Constantine C Mbajiorgu

Born in Enugu, Enugu State, Nigeria on 19 May 1957, Prof C.C. Mbajiorgu attended College of the Immaculate Conception (C.I.C), Enugu from 1971 to 1975, University of Ife from 1975 to 1980; Ahmadu Bello University from 1982 to 1983, and Technical University of Nova Scotia, Canada, from 1988 to 1992. He holds a PhD in Agricultural Engineering, specializing in Applied Hydrology and Watershed Hydrological Modeling. Prof Mbajiorgu also had professional training in Land Drainage at the International Institute for Land Reclamation and Improvement, The Netherlands, and in Integrated Water Resources Management and River Basin Development at the National Water Resources Institute, Kaduna. Prof Mbajiorgu has lectured at several institutions of higher learning in Nigeria from the 1980s, including the Rivers State University, Port Harcourt, the National Water Resources Institute, Kaduna, University of Jos, Makurdi Campus, Enugu State University (ESUT), Enugu and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. He served as president of the Nigeria Association of Hydrological Sciences (2010 – 2016), and a member of its Board of Trustees; and Editor-in-Chief of the Nigerian Journal of Hydrological Sciences. He is Vice-Chairman, Nigeria National Committee for UNESCO International Hydrological Program and Member, Technical Sub-Committee on Hydrology of the National Water Resources Council of Nigeria. He was Ag Head, Department (2003 – 2015), Associate Dean of Engineering at (2009 – 2012), promoted to the rank of a full professor in 2008, and was Head, Agricultural & Bioresources Engineering Department at UNN (2016 – 2019). Prof Mbajiorgu was Anambra State Government Scholar (1977-1980), Federal Government Scholar (1981-1983), UNDP Fellow (August-December 1984), CIDA Scholar (1988-1992), Commonwealth Fellow (2000-2001), and TRECCA Fellow in Tanzania (1-30 September, 2016). He attended WMO-sponsored International Conferences in Geneva, 2017 and 2018. He is a Registered Engineer with COREN and holds the following professional fellowships/memberships: (1) Fellow NIAE, (2) Fellow NAHS, (3) Member NSE, (4) Member ASABE, (5) Member BHS, (6) Member IAHS and, (7) Member Governing Board of the NAHS. Prof. Mbajiorgu coordinates the Eco-Hydrological Systems Research Group at UNN. He is currently Editor-in-Chief, Nigerian Journal of Hydrological Sciences, and has served as Editor for the Journal of Agricultural Engineering and Technology and the Nigerian Journal of Technology. He was President of Nigeria Association of Hydrological Sciences from 2010 to 2016, and is currently a National Vice-Chairman of the Nigerian National Committee for UNESCO Intergovernmental Program. He was the Head of Department (2003 – 2005 and 2016 - 2019) and Associate Dean (2009 – 2012). His current research is on Eco hydrological Modelling. He has successfully supervised 12 Ph.Ds. He is currently supervising 5 Ph.Ds. He was appointed a full Professor in 2008. He has taught full-time for over 35 years.
