20 Million Naira Innovation Seed Grant: Call for APPLICATIONS 2023–2024

OVERVIEW

ACE-SPED seed grants for sustainable energy and power development innovation will provide significant commercialization assistance to driven African innovators creating scalable engineering solutions to address energy and power problems in the sub-region. The ACE-SPED seed grants for sustainable energy and power development innovation seek to encourage, honor, and promote entrepreneurship and innovation across sub-Saharan Africa.


OBJECTIVE
The principal aim of the ACE-SPED Innovation Seed Grants is to furnish monetary backing for entrepreneurial ideas that correspond with the innovation objectives of the centre, specifically, but not limited, to electric power system development, renewable energy, waste-to-energy conversion, energy conservation, energy resource assessment and forecasting, sustainable energy materials, energy policy and regulation, management of technology and other related fields.


ELIGIBILITY
This offer is open to only University of Nigeria students


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Students who have created a novel product or service are encouraged to apply, with a focus on sustainable social and economic development. Regardless of their own technical expertise, applicants from all disciplines are encouraged to submit their innovative ideas. Female applicants are especially encouraged to apply


FUNDING SPECIFICS

Funding is in two categories: ACE-SPED students (10 teams of not less than two students per team) and other UNN students (10 teams of not less than two students per team). The award grant is N1m each for all the categories. Grants that are received will be funded for a period of six months. It is recommended that applicants should properly budget their ideas and provide justification for the funds they are requesting. NO INDIVIDUAL APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED.


NOTIFICATION OF THE AWARD

By March 15th, 2024, successful teams will receive notification of the grant award. Grant recipients will be made public via official means of communication and on the ACE-SPED and UNN websites.


REQUIREMENTS FOR REPORTING

Following the conclusion of their project, recipients of the ACE-SPED Innovation Seed Grant will be expected to submit a final report as well as a mid-term progress report.


PROCEDURES FOR APPLICATION

Interested candidates must electronically send their proposals on or before the 15th February, 2024 to researchgrant@acespedunn.edu.ng. The following are to be included in the application package: completed application form, together with the attachments listed below: A thorough research proposal that includes the goals of the project, the hypothesis, the methodology, the anticipated results, any prospective innovations, a schedule, a budgetary explanation outlining the intended use of the funds, and two letters of recommendation (one from the Head of Department/Centre/Institution of the team lead and another from any senior staff of the University in the category of senior lecturer and above)  all in PDF Format
