Engr. Professor  Kennedy Chinedu Okafor, Ph.D, FASI, FAAIMLON,SMIEEE, Coren.Reg

Engr. Professor Kennedy Chinedu Okafor is a Technology Adviser to the UK government, specialising in Mechatronics, Complex Cyber-Physical Systems, Digital Platform Regulation, and Security. He began his professional career as a Pupil Engineer and rose to become a Senior Research Engineer at the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI–ELDI), Nigeria. He later served as Senior Faculty in Mechatronics Engineering at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). Kennedy holds a Ph.D. in Electronics Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), where he received the Vice-Chancellor’s Award for Best Ph.D. Candidate (2017). His postdoctoral research focused on Cloud and Generative AI architectures and data strategy at the Imperial College Business School, London, UK. He has led several international research collaborations as Principal Investigator (PI) and Postdoctoral Fellow with Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), the University of Johannesburg (South Africa), and the University of Chichester (UK). His interdisciplinary research spans AI Engineering, Networked Robotics, and Smart Social Infrastructure. Kennedy has contributed to major UK national projects, including the UK Natural Capital Asset Programme (£1.5 T) and the UK Woodland Project (£382 billion) (2023–2024), advancing smart ecosystem preservation initiatives. He holds numerous industry-recognised certifications, including AWS Solutions Architect, DevOps, Cisco CCNA and CCNP®, DevNet, IBM Cloud, and CompTIA A+ and Network+. Kennedy has authored over 100 publications, exceeding 1,000 citations, and has peer-reviewed more than 500 papers. He serves on editorial boards of several high-impact journals, including IEEE Transactions, Elsevier, and Springer. He currently serves as Chair of the IEEE Skillup Hub for Region 8 (Africa, Middle East, and Europe) and as a Board Member/Trustee of the Association of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning of Nigeria (AAIMLON). He is a Senior Member of IEEE, a Fellow of the African Scientific Institute (USA), and contributes actively to international standardisation efforts in digital ecosystems and foundation model engineering. Kennedy holds a Visiting Professor position at the Federal University of Allied Health Sciences, Nigeria and Lectures at the Worldbank Center of excellence, ACESP-UNN.
